HEPNames Family Trees
You may also want the standard HEPNames help pages
To see a family tree (a list of students, and their
students, and their student's students...) in HEPNames do the following:
-
Do a normal search for the advisor's name at the HEPNames search page
You'll see a result like the following:
Click on the Family Tree link to display the genealogy of this
physicist
-
You can also click on the PhD advisor link with in a record in the
Family Tree mode, and this will re-center the tree on this advisor,
moving back a level if necessary.
-
Bear in mind that the links between student and advisor rely on
information that we have been given by users, and name variations and
other errors may cause incorrect information to display. The records are
certainly incomplete, as they only list students and advisors who are also
in HEPNames. As such, these should be considered handy and fun lists, but
are not meant to be an official record.
- To correct information, or submit comments, send email to the SPIRES HEPNames
Database Administrator at
hepnames@slac.stanford.edu.
Alternatively, to add an advisor, just click the update button by the
student's name.

Thanks to Alejandro Rivero who suggested this useful and fun tool. Please
feel free to bug us by email if you have an idea for a new SPIRES
feature. We can't implement them all, but they are often great suggestions.
